About W20

Brazil leads for the first time, in 2024, the G20 economic forum, which brings together the 19 largest economies in the world, as well as the European Union and South Africa, to discuss economic, political and social initiatives. Parallel to the leadership of the G20, debates and elaboration of engagement policies integrated by civil society, such as Women 20.

The W20, conceived in Australia in 2014, officially began work in 2015 in Turkey and then passed through China, Germany, Argentina, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Italy, Indonesia, and India. Brazil’s delegation has participated in the W20 since 2017.

W20 works in the formulation of actions and public policies in favor of women’s economic empowerment and gender equality. During the Brazilian presidency, our country will work in partnership with India, the group’s leader in 2023, and South Africa, the future nation to host the G20.
